Obituary

APAP BOLOGNA - AMY, née Gatt Rutter, widow of The Noble Mario Apap Bologna, and secondly of Captain Joseph Psaila Manche, on November 17 at Casa Antonia, Balzan, in her 97th year, comforted by the rites of Holy Mother Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her sons Peter and his wife Alaine, Michael and his wife Patricia, her son-in-law Leo Vassallo Cesareo, her daughter-in-law, Annie Apap Bologna, her grandchildren Kate Dodd, Sarah Apap Bologna, Paul Apap Bologna, Christina Meli Bugeja, Christopher Vassallo Cesareo, Francesca Cassar and their respective spouses, Dominic, Greta, Michael, Katya and Steve, her great-grandchildren Thomas and James Dodd, Andrew and Matthew Apap Bologna, Mark, Thomas and James Meli Bugeja, Jack and Alexander Vassallo Cesareo, Anna and Sophie Cassar, her sister Connie Fiteni, her many nephews and nieces, and other relations and friends. The funeral takes place today at 9.30 a.m. at Lija parish church.

ATTARD. On November 19, WALTER, aged 88, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Maria. née Sullivan, his sister-in-law Gina, widow of his brother Joseph Paul, and her children Corinne, Richard, Stephen, Marice and their spouses, his in-laws Salvino, Rita, Harry, Joe, Eddie, Lilian and Margaret and their respective spouses Rose and Therese, numerous nephews and nieces, especially Gloria and Mario, Chris and Debbie and Gerald, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 2 p.m. for Ta' l-Ibraġ church where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m. followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi will be appreciated.

He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Doris, his son Stephen and his wife Anna and his daughter Muriel and her husband Mark Scicluna, his much-loved grandchildren Elysia, Emma Marie, Lisa and Kristina, his brother Alfred and his wife Mary of UK, and his sister Lilian and her husband Charles Scicluna, his brothers and sisters-in-law Lolly and his wife Doris, Jessie and her husband Alfred Galea of Canada, Gaetano and his wife Josephine and Tanya and her husband Michael Degiorgio, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Boffa Hospital tomorrow at 8 a.m. for the new St Venera parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.30 a.m., followed by interment in the family grave at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to The Malta Hospice Movement, Balzan, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

GAUCI. On November 19, at Mater Dei Hospital, Sr ADELAIDE, aged 75, passed away peacefully to meet the Risen Lord, comforted by the rites of Holy Church, after a short illness borne with great Christian spirit. She leaves to mourn her sad loss the congregation of the Sisters of St Dorothy, her brother, sisters, nephews, nieces and their respective families. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 2 p.m. for the Mdina Cathedral where Mass praesente cadaver will be celebrated at 2.30 p.m., followed by interment at St Andrew's Cemetery, Żebbuġ.

ZAMMIT. On November 19, CHARLES, widower of Josephine née Borg at Charella residential home, Gżira, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. The funeral Mass will be said today at 2.30 p.m. at St Gregory's church, Sliema. Special thanks to the staff at Charella residential home.

Charity ride

A charity ride in aid of SOS Animals will be held on December 14. The ride will begin at the Luxol Grounds, St Andrews, at 9 a.m. and end at the Ħaġar Qim Bar and Restaurant in Żurrieq with a bike show, music and a raffle.

The money collected will be given out as food and medicine vouchers to sanctuaries and people who are most in need. Donations can be sent via SMS on 5061. Each SMS costs €2.33. For further information phone 9947 4191 or send an e-mail to ondroad@one.com.mt.

Cantata at Żejtun

A Cantata composed by Ray Zammit to mark the 75th anniversary of Għaqda Banda Żejtun will be held at the Pandora Theatre, Żejtun on Saturday at 7.30 p.m.

The lyrics narrating the highlights of the history of the club and its band were written by Sunny Aquilina. The Cantata, in this genre of music on a non-religious theme, is a first for Malta, a spokesman for the club said.

Musical comedy

Talent Depiro will be staging the musical comedy Insiefer jew Insaffar by Lawrence Cutajar on November 29 and 30 at 7.30 p.m. and 6.30 p.m. respectively at the St Agatha Auditorium in Rabat. Tickets, selling at €3.50, can be booked by phoning 2145 4530/2145 6340. They will also be available at the door.

Baroque recital

A baroque flute and harpsichord recital will be held at Auberge D'Aragon, Independence Square, Valletta on November 29 to raise funds for Din l-Art Ħelwa.

The recital, which will feature Silvio Zammit and Ramona Zammit Formosa, starts at 7.30 p.m. and will be followed by a lavish buffet reception. Tickets sell at €38 and all proceeds will be in aid of Din l-Art Ħelwa's several restoration projects.

Hijack exercise

A full-scale hijack exercise will be held today at the airport by the Office of the Manager Airport Security in collaboration with the Armed Forces of Malta.

The public should not be alarmed should it observe unusual movements by soldiers, policemen and medical staff and fire and rescue services in the vicinity of Malta International Airport and Mater Dei Hospital, a spokesman said.

Diocesan celebration

Sunday's diocesan celebration will be held at the Kalkara parish church not the Safi parish as previously planned because bad weather is forecast. The celebration, which begins at 4 p.m., will include an address by Archbishop Paul Cremona and holy Mass.

US in transition

The Department of Youth and Community Studies will be holding a lecture titled The US In Transition: From Here to Where? on December 10 at 5 p.m. at the University's Erin Serracino Inglott Hall. The Maltese Diabetes Association will be offering a free blood glucose monitoring service for the public on Friday at City Gate, Valletta between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
