Hijack exercise tomorrow

A hijack exercise is to be held tomorrow and people should not be alarmed by an unusual movement of soldiers, policemen, medical staff and the fire services around the airport, the Department of Information said this afternoon.

The purpose of the exercise is to test the national hijack plan and the responsiveness and interaction of the entities involved.

The exercise will involve airport security, the Armed Forces of Malta, the police, the Security Service, the Civil Protection Department, Air Malta, the Department of Information, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry for Justice and Home Affairs and the Health Department.
